FAQs

Explosion Proof Containers

Explosion proof containers are heavy‑duty storage units designed to contain hazardous substances and prevent ignition, reducing the risk of explosions, fires, or chemical reactions. Their construction complies with safety standards and is used in industries handling flammable or volatile materials.

These containers are suitable for flammable liquids, gases, volatile chemicals, combustible materials, explosive powders, paints, solvents, and other hazardous substances that require specialised storage conditions to minimise ignition risks.

Explosion proof containers are built with reinforced steel walls, pressure relief systems, spark resistant interiors, and grounded electrical fittings. These design features prevent heat, arcing, or sparks from igniting stored materials and improve overall safety in hazardous environments.

Explosion proof containers should comply with recognised safety standards such as ATEX (EU), IECEx, NFPA, and other national regulatory frameworks. Compliance ensures materials are stored in ways that meet legal and workplace safety requirements.

Standard containers are not designed to handle flammable or explosive materials and can present significant safety risks. Explosion proof containers include safety systems, fire resistant materials, and controlled environments that reduce the potential for accidents, making them essential for hazardous material storage.

Yes. Many explosion proof containers are engineered to be weatherproof and resistant to environmental conditions, allowing them to be placed outdoors while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

Explosion proof containers provide a high level of physical security through heavy gauge steel, lockable doors, and optional access control systems. This secures hazardous contents and limits access to trained personnel only.

These containers are delivered using specialised transport and lifting equipment. Installation includes proper placement, grounding, and, where required, integration with site electrical systems to ensure safety and regulatory compliance before use.

Yes. Many explosion proof containers are equipped with controlled ventilation systems designed to prevent the build up of flammable vapours or gases, while maintaining a safe airflow that mitigates the risk of internal ignition.

Absolutely. Explosion proof containers can be customised in size, internal layout, shelving, safety systems, fire suppression, and access options, ensuring they meet the specific material handling needs and operational requirements of the facility.

They are widely used in chemical manufacturing, oil & gas, pharmaceutical production, mining, paint and coatings facilities, laboratories, and industrial processing plants – anywhere flammable or volatile materials are in use.

Regular inspections and maintenance are essential for safety. This includes checking seals, ventilation systems, electrical fittings, grounding connections, and structural integrity to ensure continued compliance and minimise risk.

Yes. Many explosion proof containers can be fitted with automatic fire suppression, gas detection, alarms, and emergency systems that enhance safety and provide rapid response in case of hazardous conditions.

Yes. When designed and installed correctly, explosion proof containers provide safe, compliant long term storage for hazardous materials, protecting people, property, and processes over extended periods.

Explosion proof containers offer enhanced safety, regulatory compliance, controlled environments, and robust construction to protect personnel and facilities from the risks associated with flammable or explosive materials. They are an essential investment for any operation handling hazardous substances.
